NHS Pension Scheme Changes

Print E-mail

Do you know how changes to the NHS pension scheme will affect you – and what you need to do next?

From 1 April 2008, there will be two NHS pension schemes:

  • the current NHS Pension Scheme updated for anyone who is an active member on or before 1 April 2008. Under this scheme, the normal pension age is 60, and 55 for some;
  • the new NHS Pension Scheme – a new final salary scheme for anyone who joins on or after 1 April 2008.  This has a normal pension age of 65, and different rules and benefits.

Weighing up the outcomes of the two options could be complex and time-consuming.

As specialists in offering independent financial services to medical professionals, IMS advisers can talk you through what you need to do next to ensure you are able to retire comfortably at the age you wish, on the income you require.

See http://www.nhspa.gov.uk/site/nhs/index.htm for full details of the difference between the two schemes.

IMS is a trading style of Paramount Group which is authorised
and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
